History of World Series of Poker

World Series of Poker occurs each year through a collection of tournaments which are labelled under one main Las Vegas event. Founded by casino tycoon Benny Binion, the World Series of Poker tournament began in the 1970s and contains 58 individual card games with Texas Hold 'em being the gamers favourite. One of the most lucrative gaming tournaments on the planet, the winning player takes home a coveted bracelet and a large cash prize. Just two gamers, Stu Ungar and Johnny Moss have won the title three times in the World Series of Poker, whilst the tournament has been won by four players two years in a row. The most successful poker player in the poker World Series event is Phil Hellmuth from Wisconsin, who has triumphed with 11 bracelets from the World Series of Poker. The World Series of Poker has been won in 2010 by Jonathan Duhamel, the first time a Canadian has won the championship.
